Chapter 2 Comes Alive: Music, Video, and Curious Young Readers

This past week, I had the joy of bringing IYANWA to life during a school visit, where I read aloud Chapter 2 to a room full of bright, imaginative students.

We began with a 10-minute immersive read-aloud, accompanied by original illustrations, video projections, and gentle music woven into the background. The combination added a fun atmosphere, pulling the students right into Izzy’s journey, the mystery of the island, and the magical threads that quietly run through her world.

But what truly blew me away was what came next: 15 minutes of thoughtful, insightful questions from the students, like how long did the book take to write, to why did you write this book. Their curiosity was amazing, and reminded me why storytelling matters—how it opens doors, stirs questions, and builds bridges between hearts and imaginations.

If you're a teacher, librarian, or parent looking to bring IYANWA into your classroom or home, this kind of read-aloud is just the beginning. I’d love to visit more schools, share behind-the-scenes details, and open up space for more amazing conversations with young readers.

Watch this space for more chapters, read-alouds, and live school events coming soon.
