On February 28th, from 1pm to 3pm, I will be at Barnes and Noble for a special book signing event featuring my middle-grade fantasy novel, IYANWA. This is a perfect chance to meet, chat, and dive deeper into the world I created for young readers who crave thrilling journeys and rich storytelling.
Whether you are a parent looking for a new book for your child, a teacher searching for engaging reads, or a young reader eager to explore fantasy worlds, IYANWA can offer a great, emotional, and nail-biting adventure! IYANWA is a unique approach on life and death, family bonds, and the coming-of-age of a 12 year-old Izzy (who wants nothing more than for her brother to make it home).
What to Expect at the Book Signing
I'm excited to be able to bring some bookmarks, stickers, and a fun activities one-pager with a maze, dot-to-dot drawing, a black and white print of the map of IYANWA - perfect for coloring-in, and a limited run of special edition hard-covers!
Why IYANWA is a Great Read for Middle-Grade Readers
Middle-grade fantasy books play a crucial role in nurturing imagination and critical thinking in young readers. IYANWA offers:
A Strong, Relatable Heroine
The story explores themes of life, death, and sibling bonds through the story of a girl named Izzy who journeys to a mysterious island to save her brother, Lucas, with the help of magical friends and ghostly figures.
Rich World-Building
The novel introduces a vivid fantasy world filled with magical creatures, ancient secrets, and unexpected friendships. This immersive setting sparks creativity and invites readers to explore beyond the pages.
Themes of Friendship and Growth
Alongside adventure, IYANWA explores important themes such as life, death, family bond, and personal growth. These lessons resonate with middle-grade readers as they navigate their own experiences.
Accessible Language and Pacing
The book is written with clear, engaging language suitable for readers aged 8 to 12. The pacing keeps the story exciting without overwhelming young readers.
How to Prepare for the Event
To make the most of the book signing, consider these tips:
Bring Your Copy of IYANWA
If you already own the book, bring it along for signing. If not, Barnes and Noble will have copies available for purchase.
Prepare Questions or Topics
Think about what you want to know about the story or writing process. This can make the conversation more meaningful and fun.
Invite Friends and Family
Sharing the event with others who enjoy fantasy or middle-grade books can make the experience even better.
